Redding falling well short of water conservation goals

Redding city officials are asking residents to double down on water conservation efforts as the city continues to fall well short of state mandated conservation goals.

Redding is required to reduce its water consumption by 36 percent, and while they came close over the hot summer months, the city’s October conservation rate as of Sunday is just 13 percent.

With cooler fall weather moving into the North State city officials are asking residents to reset sprinkler settings and reduce watering to just one or two days a week.

In Redding, not outdoor watering is permitted on Mondays and the other watering days depend on your address. No watering is allowed between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
