Redding elementary school locked down due to police activity

Boulder Creek Elementary School in Redding was briefly locked down due to police activity in the area Thursday morning.

The lockdown was enacted around 10:30 a.m. and school officials informed parents of the situation via email. It was lifted about an hour later. Parents started arriving to pick up students a shortly after the lockdown was lifted.

Redding police say they were in the area searching for a suspected burglar and the lockdown was issued out of precaution.

The suspected burglar remains at large.
