Redding City officials are holding off on a decision whether to raise electrical rates at the request of Redding Electric Utility.
Tuesday the city council agreed to postpone a hearing on a proposed rate structuring and will not be revisiting the issue until a "priority setting" meeting in February of 2017.
Meanwhile, REU officials say they plan to ask the council to approve a 1.5 percent increase for 2016 either later this year or early next year.
The utility had hoped to raise the "fixed monthly network charge" from $13 to $42 to offset losses from solar energy conversions.
