A measure was approved last night at the Redding City Council meeting to tighten water restrictions, as water conservation was the major topic discussed.
This after Public Works Director Brian Crane recommended that the city council implement stage II of the city's drought management plan immediately.
While residents will have to follow the new state-mandated conservation measures, including allowing no runoff when watering outdoor landscaping and no washing cars without a hose fitted with a shut-off nozzle, stage II measures will mean residents will only be allowed to water lawns and other landscaping on certain days and times of the week
As far as penalties go for excessive usage, the city council has directed staff to take another look at fines.
