Redding City Council approves affordable housing loan

Redding City Council members voted four to one Tuesday night to approve a loan increase for the construction of a new affordable housing complex.

The $500,000 loan will go towards building 55 units of affordable and supporting housing on Ellis Street in Redding. The proposed project includes one, two and three bedroom units and the total cost of the project is estimated to cost $16.3 million.

The $500,000 increase brings the city's total loan to $1.75 million.
