A Redding Man left in critical condition after resisting arrest following a stolen vehicle crash has died.
The Sacramento Coroner’s Office reports that 33-year-old Steven Motley died yesterday.
He had been hospitalized in critical condition at Mercy San Juan Hospital since collapsing last Saturday when police were taking him into custody.
Motley allegedly stole a truck and a police patrol car before his capture.
Three Redding Police Officers are on paid leave until the completion of an independent investigation into the incident, by a multi-agency review team.
Meanwhile, a forensic autopsy is tentatively scheduled for Thursday. Members of the Shasta County Sheriff’s office, the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office, Department of Justice, Redding Police, Shasta County Coroner’s Office, and the Shasta County Grand Jury will be invited to be I attendance, which is in accordance with Protocol for this type of incident.
