Redding bicyclist suffers major injuries in head-on crash

A Redding man is in critical condition at UC Davis Medical Center after being hit head-on by a truck on Oasis Road. It happened just before 6:30 p.m. Monday night near Twin View Boulevard. Police say Jeremy Maughs, 37, of Redding was driving east on Oasis Road when he reportedly drifted to the right and hit a bicyclist head-on. The victim has been identified as Aaron Roth, 29, of Redding. Roth suffered major head and upper body injuries. He was taken to Mercy Medical Center before being transferred to UC Davis. The crash is still under investigation. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a factor.
