Redding authorities respond to morning bomb scare

Dec 4, 2015 3:04 PM

Authorities in Redding reported to the scene of a bomb scare that caused several businesses to be evacuated and a road closure.

Redding police arrived to the CCPM store on Bechelli Lane just before 10:30 a.m. after reports of a suspicious package behind the store.

A total of seven businesses have been evacuated including one mobile home.

The Shasta County Bomb Squad has released a robot to investigate the suspicious package but police say it is having a difficult time reaching the package because it is under a bush.

If you can, avoid the area between Bechelli Lane and Hartnell Avenue.
