Red Suspenders Days returns to Gridley this weekend with the theme "Honoring Those Who Serve."
The community wide celebration started more than 50 years ago to honor local firefighters ... and this year will also honor police and military.
The fun begins Friday, May 19th, with the "Unjustice Court" at Rotary Park from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The Sutter Buttes Family Orchestra will perform at Vierra Park at 5 p.m. followed by the "Guns & Hoses" Softball Game at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, May 20th, the festivities begin at 7 a.m. with the Little League Pancake Breakfast at RXR Park, that continues until 10 a.m.
The "Run Around the Rice" in Biggs begins at 8 a.m., which is also when vendor booths open for the day. The Classic Car Show is from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
You won't want to miss the annual Bed Races at 10 a.m., and the Pie Eating Contest at 11 a.m.
A Butte County Sheriff's Department Helicopter will flyover and land, to start the Gridley Red Suspenders Day Parade Downtown at 11:30 a.m.
At 12:30 p.m. a Mariachi Band will perform at Quota Park. K-9 Demonstrations with Search and Rescue and an Accelerant Detection Dog will take place between 12:30 and 2 p.m.
There will also be Street Performances, Fireman's Games from 1 - 4 p.m. and a Pinewood Derby at 1 p.m.
It all wraps up with a Tri Tip Dinner at the Gridley Museum, sponsored by local service organizations, from 4 - 7 p.m.
