A 17-year-old Red Bluff resident accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a crash that killed a 25-year-old man will not be tried as an adult, Tehama County District Attorney Greg Cohen said Monday.

The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. last Wednesday on Plymie Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Red Bluff resident Anthony Huerta slowed to make a turn and was struck from behind by a 17-year-old driving a Dodge pickup. Huerta was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cohen told Action News Now his office decided not to charge the 17-year-old as an adult and said they will not be releasing any further information because the case is now being handled by the Juvenile courts.
