Red Bluff police investigating alleged break-in, rape

A Red Bluff man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a woman's home and raping her.

According to the Red Bluff Police Department, the victim told officers Heath Allan Patterson, a former co-worker, walked into her home on Melton Court through an unlocked door around 5:30 a.m. Sunday. Once inside, he walked to the bedroom where he physically and sexually assaulted her.

Patterson left after about 15 minutes, and was eventually picked out of a photo lineup by the victim.

The 39-year-old Patterson was taken into custody around 2 p.m. Sunday and booked into the Tehama County Jail on several assault and burglary charges. Bail is listed at $1 million.
