Red Bluff man on life support after beating

A Tehama County man is on life support after police found him lying in the road unresponsive on Wednesday evening.

According to the Red Bluff Police Department, officers were called to fight in progress on the 700 block of South Jackson Street just after 5 p.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived on the scene they found 33-year-old Rogelio McDarment lying in the road near an apartment complex. McDarment was unresponsive and members of the Red Bluff Fire Department and a St. Elizabeth's ambulance crew began life saving efforts.

McDarment was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital and then transferred to a Redding hospital where he remains on life support.

Witnesses in the area told police McDarment had been fighting with a white or Hispanic male who fled the area in a gold sedan.
