Red Bluff man in hospital after being struck by hammer

The Red Bluff Police Department responded to St. Elizabeth Hospital regarding a report of a 32-year-old adult male who had been struck in the head with a hammer on Monroe Street in Red Bluff just before 6:30 on Saturday night. The victim was unable to provide a detailed statement to officers before being transported to Mercy Hospital via ambulance. The victim provided a general statement and said he had been assaulted somewhere on Monroe Street in Red Bluff. Hospital staff later reported the victim's injuries were serious, but not life threatening. Police say the victim is out of surgery and remains in ICU.
