A Red Bluff man who beat another man to death last year has been sentenced to eight years in state prison.
Joseph Cadotte, 27, received his sentence Monday after agreeing to plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter and battery with serious bodily injury earlier this month.
Prosecutors say Cadotte was riding with his mother and girlfriend on October 15, 2014 when they saw Rogelio McDarment, 33, walking down South Jackson Street.
Cadotte’s girlfriend told him McDarment had stolen some of his clothes, prompting Cadotte to get out of the car and attack McDarment. McDarment quickly fell, and Cadotte continued to punch and kick him.
Police found McDarment in the road unresponsive, and he was pronounced dead at Mercy Medical Center three days later.
