A fire destroyed a Red Bluff home and closed Main Street in both directions early Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out this morning around 5:20 a.m., destroyed an abandoned house and the former Snack Box restaurant.

When crews responded the fire was fully involved and stretching to the building north of the house. PG&E crews were called for PG&E for downed power lines, but no outages were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no injuries have been reported. Red Bluff Fire Department Chief Mathew Shobash said there have been a lot of fires in the area, with a variety of different causes, but one possibility being investigated is that a transient had broken in and was living in the home.
