Red Bluff fire started by magnifying glass

Red Bluff fire officials have determined a commercial structure fire that broke out Monday afternoon was the result of a magnifying glass being left in the direct sunlight.

The fire occurred just after 12:45 p.m. Monday at a fenced in storage area of the Airport Industrial Park in Red Bluff.

The Red Bluff Fire Department and Cal Fire responded to the fire, but the business owner was able to contain the fire with a garden hose before fire officials arrived.

An investigation revealed the fire started in a stuffed pillow that was left under a jeweler's magnifying glass in the sun.

No injuries were reported.
