Red Bluff Police Department Capt. Kyle Sanders is expected to be appointed the city's new police chief during Tuesday night's city council meeting.

The appointment is on Tuesday's regular city council agenda, and if he is appointed Sanders will be paid an annual salary of $114,383.44.

Sanders has been working as interim police chief since former Chief Paul Nanfito was placed on paid administrative leave in March, a move that was made in the wake of a vote of no confidence from the city's peace officers association last December. Nanfito retired May 15.

Sanders is a lifelong resident of Red Bluff and graduated from Red Bluff High School in 1991. He began his career as a patrol officer with Red Bluff Police Department in 1996 and has worked a variety of assignments including Field Training Officer, SWAT Operator and Detective.
