It's considered a crime of opportunity. A Red Bluff small business owner says someone pulled off a smash and grab, smashing a window to his store, A & R Custom Butchering, and grabbing the cash register just inside the room. Dwayne Casteel says, "Come in this morning, saw glass busted out, cord hanging out, cash register was missing...It's not a good feeling."
Casteel co-owns the business at 22777 Antelope Boulevard. He says the alarm didn't go off because the doors are wired, but not the windows. He's having the alarm company out to fix security issues, and is thinking of other alternatives, to make a crime of opportunity much more difficult to pull off.
He estimates around $2,000 was taken. No arrests have been made.
