If you buy something in Red Bluff and Paradise you will be paying a little more than usual. The sales tax increase voters approved for the two communities last November kicks in Wednesday, April 1st.
The City of Red Bluff will see a quarter of a percent increase which raises the rate to 7.75%. Paradise will see a half percent increase which raises it to 8%. Both communities are planning on using a majority of the funds for public safety needs.
"It will go to support primarily police, fire, some road improvements, and animal control. We have a citizens oversight committee that will help make the decisions and oversee that the money is spent properly." says Paradise Town Councilmember Scott Lotter.
