RBPD Secures Food Maxx Parking Lot with Suspicious Cart, Bomb Squad In Route

Apr 22, 2013 3:37 PM

Earlier this morning in Red Bluff, Food Maxx store personnel found an unattended cart with a pressure cooker inside near the front of the store. The employees moved the cart into the parking lot and called the Red Bluff Police Department. Authorities have secured the area, and although it seems unlikely, they are proceeding to handle the object as an IED as a precaution.

The Shasta County Bomb Squad is in route, and the situation should be handled within the hour. The woman who left the cart in front of the store has been identified and was interviewed by authorities. Although she didn't give a reasonable excuse for leaving the cart, she was not detained by police. Reporter Bryan Callahan will bring you all the details on Action News at 5 p.m.

(UPDATE) 3:15 p.m.-RBPD reporting nothing found inside the pressure cooker, area reopened to the public
