BALTIMORE (AP) - Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata has been suspended without pay for four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing substances.

The league said Thursday he can return to the active roster Dec. 29 and would be eligible for any playoff games.

Ngata says in a statement released by the team that he took Adderall, a drug used to treat attention deficit disorder. He adds that he "made a mistake, and I own this." His hope is that Baltimore makes the postseason, and "I can come back and help us win."

Added Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome: "This is disappointing news for the Ravens. We are disappointed with Haloti, but no more than he is with himself."
