A baseball official familiar with the deal says that the Texas Rangers have an agreement in place to acquire left-hander Ross Detwiler from the Washington Nationals.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press on Thursday night because there was no announcement by either team before leaving the winter meetings in San Diego. The deal is pending the review of medical records for the former first-round draft pick.

Texas will send two minor leaguers to the Nationals for the pitcher that was left off Washington's postseason roster last season.

Detwiler is a former starter who spent last season in the bullpen, mostly working in long relief.

The Rangers are looking to add to their rotation with Yu Darvish, Derek Holland and Colby Lewis.
