Wet and windy conditions are ahead for your Friday! Showers have already taken hold of the Northwest corner of the state and are currently spreading down to the Southeast this morning. Snow levels are starting out at around 6000 feet, but will dip to around 3500 feet this afternoon. Upwards of a half an inch of rain will be possible in most of the valley, while upwards of an inch of rain will be possible in Redding. 6-12 inches of snow will be possible down to pass levels, with upwards of a foot to 2 feet of snow will be possible along higher peaks in the Sierra/Cascade ranges. Winds will be sustained from 10 to 15mph out of the Southeast, with gusts up to 30mph. Temperatures will starting out in the mid to high 40's in the valley, and in the high 20's to low 40's in the mountains. Afternoon high temperatures will climb into the high 40's to mid 50's in the valley, and into the high 30's to mid 40's in the mountains.
Showers will continue through the weekend, but there could be a break in the rain late Saturday into early Sunday. The potential for more wet weather will be ahead through Christmas Day. Temperatures will not change much over the next week. Valley areas will have high temperatures in the high 40's to mid 50's, and lows falling into the mid 30's to mid 40's through your extended forecast. I hope everyone enjoys the wet weather on the way, has a fantastic Friday, and a wonderful weekend!
