President Barack Obama prepares for State of the Union address tonight

WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House says President Barack Obama will sign an executive order setting the minimum wage for workers under new federal contracts at $10.10 an hour. The current minimum wage is $7.25 an hour.

The White House says those who would benefit from the increase include janitors, construction workers and people in food service.

The president will announce the increase at tonight's State of the Union address.

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is expected to deliver a mix of the familiar and the new in tonight's State of the Union address.

He'll mention the recovering economy and advance some targeted first-time initiatives.

He's expected to wrap it all in a unifying theme: The federal government can play a key role in increasing opportunities for Americans.
