The Paradise High football team went 7-5 last season, losing to Enterprise in the semi-finals of the Northern Section Division-II playoffs.
But head coach Rick Prinz says, by their standards, last season was a down year. They lost four home games, more at Om Wraith Field than the previous ten years combined.
This summer they've hit the ground running, hoping to do all they can to make sure they fare better in 2015.
Paradise returns two starters on offense and two starters on defense.
Once again they'll be tested early with tough non-league games out of section against American Canyon, Crater (Oregon) and Casa Roble, but they expect a bounce-back season and it all starts now.
"We're strong, we've got a couple returners that played some key positions last year so we have knowledge out there, we know what we're doing," said Xavier Molina, offensive and defensive lineman.
"I think we're a little bit more hungry this year than last year. Last year was tough, losing the games here at home and the way we finished. We were kind up and down and a little inconsistent, we want to work on that and be more consistent," said Prinz.
"We're all competitors, hard-workers, we all love to play football and we all love to win. We're just trying to put Paradise back on the map where it used to be, show everybody what we're made of," said Jett Hampton, running back and safety.
