A preliminary hearing for the man suspected of starting the Boles Fire was continued Tuesday.

Ronald Marshall appeared in court Tuesday for what was scheduled to be a preliminary hearing, but the case was continued until December 4 because Marshall has obtained new representation.

Marshall has been charged with Arson of an Inhabited Structure or Property, Arson of a Structure or Forest, and Arson of Property of Another. He pleaded not guilty to all charges during an arraignment earlier this month.

Siskiyou County Deputy District Attorney Martha Aker said Marshall appeared to want the fire to spread to the apartment complex where he once lived. The Boles Fire destroyed 157 structures in Weed.
