Pacific Gas and Electric customers in Whitmore could be without power for 11 hours on Saturday while crews work to upgrade power lines.
The outage, affecting 542 customers, will begin at 7 a.m. and may last until 6 p.m. on Saturday during which time PG&E crews and contractors will work simultaneously at several locations along the line to quickly complete the tasks.
PG&E officials say the repairs are being done to increase electric reliability in eastern Shasta County. "We apologize for the inconvenience that this planned outage will have on our customers in Whitmore, but we are confident that the upgrades will lead to improvements in electric reliability and safety," said Lia White, senior manager of PG&E's North Valley division.
