Thousands of PG&E customers in West Chico are without power Wednesday evening. The outage, which started around 8:30 p.m., was caused by a downed power line near West First Street and Nord Avenue but it's not yet know what cause that line to fail.
For a time it wasn't clear if the downed line was live and several people inside a nearby dance studio were trapped but all have since exited the building. At last report, 35-hundred PG&E customers were without power between West First to West Eighth Streets. PG&E crews on scene said the outage may last beyond 11 p.m.
