Update: At 12:05 p.m., PG&E restored power to the lone remaining customer – the Red Bluff Elks Lodge. Crews will remain on scene to replace the underground failed switch and any damaged cables.
The outage began at about 7:40 a.m. when a switch failed and caught fire at Gilmore Road and Howell Avenue, causing an outage affecting 2,500 PG&E customers in southeast Red Bluff.
PG&E crews isolated the failed switch and began restoring power to customers at 9:36 a.m., restoring power to all but 107 by 9:53 a.m. Crews expect to restore power to all but one customer by noon.
The switch serves the Red Bluff Elks Lodge and crews are making repairs to restore power to the lodge as quickly as possible.
