Pot Bust Causes Yuba City Mini Mart to Lose Alcohol License

A Yuba City convenience store loses it's license, not for alcohol violations, but for an indoor marijuana growing operation.

Drug Agents say pot was being grown in the back room of the "76 Food Mart" on Colusa Avenue, just one block from the Sutter County Sheriff's Office.

The store was busted in June, and 60 year old Hung Vu, the owner, claimed he didn't know it was happening there. Vu was not charged, but his sons, 32-year-old Eric Vu and 25-year-old Binh Vu, were both arrested on felony drug charges.

A search of Vu's" rental house and two other homes also turned up sophisticated marijuana growing operations.

The State Department of Alcohol Beverage Control suspended the store's alcohol license this week for 30 days, and will then impose an indefinite suspension until the business or license is sold to an approved party.
