The Shasta County sheriff’s office is investigating a possible drowning at Shasta Lake.

Witnesses told deputies a 55-year-old man had been working on a jet-ski near the shoreline, and near the Jones Valley Marina, before he was found by friends dead in the water around 11 a.m.

The man was at the lake with his girlfriend and a group of friends, who told deputies the he suffers from a medical condition. At this time it is unknown if the cause of death was drowning, or a pre-exisiting medical condition.

The coroner’s office is investigating the death, and the man’s name will be withheld until next of kin is notified.
