A popular walking bridge destroyed by a 100-foot tall Sycamore tree last year will be replaced in the coming weeks.

University officials say a replacement Gus Manolis Bridge arrived on campus Tuesday, and will be installed by October 1.

The original Gus Manolis Bridge was built in 1961 in honor of a former Chico State football coach who died after searching for a boy scout in the mountains near Mendocino.

The bridge was destroyed September 25, 2014 when a sycamore tree fell, crushing the bridge.
