Ponderosa Elementary brings family and science together

Students and parents were able to learn together this evening as Ponderosa Elementary School in paradise held a family STEAM night.

People in attendance were able to participate in activities which highlighted the academic areas of science, technology, engineering, art and math.

Ponderosa staff members say the evening's event was an excellent way to include the entire family in education.

“One of the greatest things is when the whole family is involved in education,” said Tom Taylor, Ponderosa Elementary School principal. “When you have the families out like this bringing the kids it shows they support what's happening in the school and they support education.”

Students were able to build air powered rockets, learn about a video green screen and watch a chemical reaction demonstration.

Ponderosa's STEAM program was helped earlier this year thanks to a donation of a stem lab by the Rotary Club of Paradise.
