Police: Woman possibly kidnapped, drugged in Chico

Chico Police say a woman may have been kidnapped and then drugged while loading groceries into her car Tuesday morning at the Safeway on Mangrove Ave.

Police responded to a missing persons call at the Safeway on Mangrove Avenue and found that the woman in question had notified her family that she was on her way home from grocery shopping, but she never arrived.

Officers found the woman's vehicle still in the parking lot with her wallet, cell phone and groceries inside.

Surveillance video showed the woman exiting Safeway with her groceries at 8:58 a.m.

Chico Police along with the Chico Police Detective Bureau began an investigation, during the course of their investigation they located the victim walking down W. 1st Avenue.

According to a press release from the Chico Police Department it appears the woman was approached from behind by an unknown suspect while she was putting groceries in her car. The suspect placed something over the victims face, she remembers walking in a wooded area and then ending up downtown.

Police say the victim may have been drugged and then transported to the Bidwell Park Area.
