Chico Police say just after 11:00am Sunday, a two men in a dark green Honda were spotted peering into parked cars around Springfield Drive. A witness called 911, and when an officer tried to pull the car over, investigators say the driver took off, driving the wrong way down a portion of westbound 20th Street.

Candi Williamsom says she was on her way to get fitted for a bridesmaid dress at David's Bridal, when she heard sirens. She says she was in the Chico Mall parking lot when, "All of the sudden from the right, there was a green Honda coming really fast. So I stopped, and the cop was behind him, and he turns and he hits the front passenger side bumper of my car, and then keeps going...it was really shocking." Williamson wasn't injured, but her car sustained front end damage on the right side.

Chico Police say the driver continued down 20th, making a left on Park Avenue, then turning around. Officers witnessed the driver ignoring stop signs and lights, eventually reaching speeds of up to 65 miles an hour. They called off the chase for concern about public safety. They say a campus police offier spotted what appeared to be the same car moments later at 1st and Warner Streets, but the driver got away.

Investigators they have several strong leads, and the driver, if caught, could face Eluding, Hit and Run, and other charges.
