Police: 'severely decomposed' body found in Paradise

Police are investigating a body found Monday afternoon near Paradise.

Butte County Sheriffs and Paradise Police responded to a call from a resident walking their dog near Honey Run Road at around 2:20 p.m. Monday. The body was discovered approximately a quarter mile south of Little Grand Canyon Drive in Paradise.

Investigators said the individual discovered a severely decomposed body located under heavy brush.

Police said the subject's gender and identification are unknown at this time, but police believe the body has been deceased for approximately four to six weeks. There is no indication on how the person died.
