Police searching for suspect in Redding shooting

Redding Police Officers were dispatched to Shasta Regional Medical Center shortly after 8:00 p.m. when a man came in with a gunshot wound in the abdomen.

The victim, Brent Thomas Posada, 34, of Redding was shot while standing on the sidewalk on the 100 block of Hilltop Drive in Redding. Posada stated a man approached him and pointed a small black handgun at him. Posada said he pushed the man’s arm to the side and then the gun went off.

The shooter then ran away from the scene in an unknown direction. According to a press release from the Redding Police Department, the suspect is a black male in his mid to late twenties, about 6’0” and 185 pounds. At the time of the incident the suspect was wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans and black high top shoes with silver stripes.

The victim’s injuries were not considered life threatening and he has been released from the hospital.
