Police searching for stabbing suspect in Redding

Police are looking of a man who allegedly stabbed a woman Sunday night in Redding.

Police say the assault happened around 10:16 p.m. on the 3000 block of C Street.

Officers found Kari Christensen, 48, of Redding with a stab wound.

According to the press release form the Redding Police Department, Christensen was outside her apartment walking her dog when the suspect approached her from behind and stabbed her one time in her upper chest area.

The suspect fled the area in an unknown direction, police conducted an extensive search with the help of Shasta County Sheriff's Office and the CHP helicopter but was unsuccessful at locating the suspect.

The man is described as white or Hispanic male, he is approximately 40-years-old, 6 feet tall with an average build and short dark hair.

Officers were able to locate the weapon at the scene.
