MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee teacher is accused of operating an illegal strip club and promoting prostitution.

WMC-TV reports Memphis police arrested 44-year-old Walter McCrimmon on Saturday night when they shut down a business he owns called Walt's Place.

Police say undercover officers have been investigating the club since July. They have made several prostitution deals inside the club, some of them directly with McCrimmon, who set the prices. They also purchased alcohol in the club, even though it does not have a liquor license.

Police say McCrimmon also is a teacher who works at Raleigh-Egypt High School.

Shelby County Schools released a statement saying they are concerned about the allegations and have suspended the teacher without pay.

A message left at a phone number listed for McCrimmon was not immediately returned.
