Chico police are searching for a suspect who allegedly stabbed a man in south Chico Thursday morning.

Police responded to a fight outside a home on the corner of Mulberry Street and W. 23rd Street just before 8 a.m. When officers arrived they learned a stabbing victim had just left the scene in a grey Honda.

Officers stopped the Honda on the Esplanade near W. 2nd Avenue, and quickly transported the stab victim, who was a passenger in the car, to Enloe Medical Center. The man's condition is unknown at this time.

Investigators say the stabbing happened during the fight in south Chico, and when officers arrived on the scene the suspect had already fled the area.
