SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Police have arrested two women they believe may have posed as county employees to take advantage of elderly people.
The Sacramento Bee reports that Auburn police say Wanda Cowen, 54, and Aimee Johnson, 36, misrepresented themselves as Placer County Health and Human Services employees to an 89-year-old victim.
A police news release says officers learned Friday that the women convinced the older victim to let them move in and receive payment for providing care.
Both women were arrested on suspicion of elder abuse. The 54-year-old woman is also accused of committing a felony while released on her own recognizance and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
