Police dog makes large drug bust in Anderson

An Anderson police dog helped officers find a large amount methamphetamine, heroin and numerous other drugs and paraphernalia during a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.

An Anderson Police Officer pulled a vehicle over for a suspended registration in the area of Highway 273 at Ox Yoke Road in Anderson.

The officer conducted a pat down search of the driver, 32-year-old Nora Jean Hunter, and found a glass pipe. Following the paraphernalia discovery the officer called for police K-9 Aero and his handler.

Aero sniffed around the vehicle and alerted officers that drugs were present in the vehicle.

Following Aero's alert, police discovered 73.3 grams of methamphetamine, 13.3 grams of heroin, marijuana, prescription drugs, syringes, packaging materials, a digital scale and glass pipes.

Hunter was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail and faces six felony charges related to the possession and sale of narcotics.
