Anderson police say a convicted felon was arrested early Monday morning after he tried to walkout of Walmart with 100 shotgun shells.
At around 12:45 a.m., just after the alleged theft occurred, several people flagged down a nearby Anderson police officer. As they were reporting the incident the suspected burglar was running through the parking lot.
The officer lost sight of the man, but a perimeter was set up and a second officer arrested him a wooded area north of Pleasant Hills Drive.
Police found the discarded stolen property, a 100 pack of shotgun shells and two bandoleers for holding the shotgun shells in a tactical manner nearby.
The suspect was identified as Joshua David Haller, 29, who was on probation for a felony conviction, and also had warrant for violating his probation.
Haller was booked into the Shasta County Jail for the probation violation and suspicion of shoplifting.
The three people who flagged down the officer were thanked for their efforts with gift certificates to Mary’s Pizza Shack in Anderson.
