Chico Police arrested two people just after 8 a.m. Tuesday morning following a car chase turned foot pursuit that ended at Enloe Medical Center.

The chase started when a Chico woman spotted her stolen Honda in an apartment complex parking lot at 1731 Esplanade.

Chico police scouted the parking lot and observed the suspect begin to leave in the stolen vehicle. The driver spotted one of the police cars and sped backwards toward the apartment complex.

The suspect then drove the car in reverse across West Seventh Avenue and into an alley between Magnolia Avenue and the Esplanade. When the alley ended at West Sixth Avenue, near Enloe, the driver tried to turn the car around, but collided with the curb and damaged the tire.

The driver and a passenger jumped out of the car and ran westbound. Officers caught the driver just down the road and took him into custody.

The passenger ran to the front of the hospital, and was eventually caught inside a hospital restroom.

The driver, 33-year-old Tou Thao, was wanted for leading officers on a pursuit near the Chico Mall Sunday morning.

Thao was charged on multiple charges related to burglary, evading and possession of stolen property. The passenger Amber Craven was arrested on conspiracy, resisting and possession of stolen property charges. Both suspects were booked into the Butte County Jail.
