Paradise police nabbed three drunken drivers at a DUI checkpoint Friday night.
Throughout the night, officers conducted field sobriety tests on a total of ten drivers. There were also 10 drivers arrested for driving on a suspended driver's licenses and three for driving without a license as part of the enforcement.
The checkpoint was part of a grant called "Avoid the 8." Butte County police forces received a grant to fund one year of increased DUI and traffic enforcement. "Avoid the 8" DUI Task Force includes participation from Paradise Police Department, Chico Police Department, Oroville Police Department, Gridley Police Department, Butte County Sheriff's Office, California State University, Chico Police Department, California Highway Patrol, California State Parks, with additional assistance from Butte County Probation and Alcohol Beverage Control.
