Police arrest 3 in connection with Oroville home invasion

Oroville Police detained three individuals they suspect were involved in a home invasion in which the suspect pulled a gun on the homeowner.

Officers, acting on a tip, located the apartment of suspect Jason Lee Powell, 35. Powell was taken into custody without incident. Phillip Lee Ford, 25, and Krystal Lynn Melech, 27, were also arrested in the apartment.

After a search, officers located four firearms along with property that belonged to at least four residences that were burglarized over the past twelve months.

Powell also had a no-bail warrant out for his arrest from Sacramento County.

Detectives are still actively investigating the crimes and asking anyone with information to contact the Oroville Police at 530-538-2448.


Police in Oroville are searching for a man they say broke into a home Wednesday and pulled a gun on the homeowner.

Oroville Police officers responded to a call coming from a home off the Oro Quincy Highway in Oroville approximately Noon. The suspect broke into the garage of the home where he was confronted by the owner.

The owner said the suspect pulled a gun and fled the scene in a white sedan with a broken taillight. The homeowner said the tail light of the sedan was held together with tape.

Police described the suspect as a white male, approximately 6-feet tall, 200 pounds with brown hair and a beard. He was wearing a camouflage jacket.
