Redding police have arrested two teens who reportedly ran away from their Redding group home and then took part in a crime spree that began Sunday evening and continued into Monday afternoon.

According to the Redding Police Department, the two 15-year-old suspects ran away from Open Line Group Home in Redding, stole a pickup truck and then robbed three women in order to fund a trip to Sacramento.

Police say the boys stole the truck just before 7 p.m. Sunday from an apartment complex on Hilltop Drive. The teens then began their string of robberies Monday morning, by first snatching the purse of an Oregon woman while she was helping her friend unpack a baby stroller near the sundial bridge.

The juveniles then headed to the Mount Shasta Mall where they snatched a woman's purse outside of Macy's at 11:24 a.m. and then robbed a third woman just 20 minutes later as she was waiting at the bus stop on Masonic Drive.

Police located the stolen Toyota just after 12 p.m. Monday and recovered all three victim's purses and a stolen IPhone.

The teens were booked into the Shasta County Juvenile Hall for three counts of robbery, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
