Anderson police arrested a man Tuesday after he allegedly stole from a donation jar for the Veteran’s Walk of Honor.

Police were called to the Gap store in the Anderson Factory Outlets around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday after two people were spotted stealing from the donation jar.

When the officers arrived in the area they spotted one of the thieves and chased him on foot through a neighborhood and onto Highway 273 near Factory Outlets Drive.

The pursuing officer eventually caught up to the suspect and tased him after issuing several verbal warnings.

The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Brian Harvey, of Anderson, and witnesses positively identified him as one of the two donation jar thieves.

A portion of the stolen money was recovered, and Harvey was booked into the Shasta County Jail on suspicion of petty theft and resisting arrest.
