Last month members of the Chico Chamber of Commerce went door-to-door talking to business owners in West Chico about problems in the area. Tuesday, those same people had the opportunity to discuss those concerns with the police department.
The meet and greet took place at "Azad's Martial Art's Center". Graffiti, transient, and vandalism issues were all discussed. People say the Nord area crime has increased dramatically over the last three years. Newly selected Chico Police Chief Michael O'brien says its important to listen to those in the community.
"We are putting the pieces together at the Chico Police department to address these issues more effectively. It is not all going to be solved by this police department it has to be collaborative, there are many pieces like I said that have to be brought in." says Chico's soon to be Police Chief Michael O'brien.
The chamber plans to hold another meeting at the end of Summer before Chico State starts. The goal is to continue communication between the department, the city, and those in the community.
