Pleasant Valley high softball standout Dominque Jackson is walking with a big smile these days, as she is getting the opportunity to play the game she loves at the next level.

This past week, Jackson, who will be a junior at Pleasant Valley this upcoming year, made a verbal commitment to play for Fresno State.

The big hitter was the Northern Section's most valuable player as a sophomore, receiving both All-State and All-American honors. She led the section with 12 home-runs, 10 triples, and 69 RBI's, while leading her squad to a division 2 section title.

Jackson said she had originally committed to Utah State in November of 2012, but when their coach resigned in May, Jackson decided to explore other options, and Fresno State emerged as the right fit.

"I have a partial scholarship right now and if I keep getting better and better, I have the chance of getting a bigger scholarship so I'm definitely going to try harder these next couple years. I know that their program is a good program, I went and looked at their football field, their softball field, they have people looking after it 24/7 and the field is just beautiful. I'm definitely pumped about being a Bulldog," said Jackson.
